Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism This AC wall adapter charger is the one that comes with the Kindle Fire. It's 1 2/3 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches long. I am charging my new Fire with it right now. The Fire's adapter does not separate into a USB cable and a wall plug like the Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter (Works with 6", 9.7" Display, 2nd and Latest Generation Kindles) that came with the Kindle Keyboards. So if you want to connect your Fire to your computer (and don't already have the AC adapter that came with the Kindle 2 or 3) you will need to buy either an Amazon Kindle Replacement USB Cable, White (Works with 6", 9.7" Display, 2nd and Latest Generation Kindles) OR just the Amazon Kindle US Power Adapter (Kindle, Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle DX) if you already have the USB cable from another Kindle you own. Of course, as long as you have a good, solid Wi-Fi connection you may have no need for these extra USB cables. The adapter plugged securely into the Fire and the wall outlet. It isn't that big but it's still kind of bulky. I much preferred the lighter, more streamlined Amazon Kindle Replacement Power Adapter (Works with 6", 9.7" Display, 2nd and Latest Generation Kindles) that came with my Kindle Keyboard which is much easier to throw into a bag/purse/backpack. The last thing I needed was another "brick" power adapter which is why I am only giving this 4 stars. The adapter is made in China and the specs are:
INPUT (AC): 100-240V, 50/60Hz
OUTPUT (DC): 5V, 1.8ANote: A wall adapter does NOT come with the new $79/$109 Kindles or the new Kindle touch; just a USB cable. This wall adapter can be used to charge any Kindle except the Kindle 1 which came with it's own proprietary adapter.UPDATE 11/16/11: Used this to charge my Kindle Touch. Worked very well.
UPDATE 11/17/11: Used the USB cable the came with my Kindle Touch to charge the Fire on my computer. With no apps or anything running It took 30 minutes to charge it 3%. So I guess computer charging is NOT the way to go with the Fire.
