Purchased it in December 2010 and gave it a 5 star rating on another reviw place, worked great from the "git go", was fast. After using it for 7 months, noticed it is little bit on the noisy side, but not a problem for me. It was very warm when it was operating. I was happy with it. I am a very heavy user of this HD. I used it as my external working and back-up HD almost every day for about 24 hours a day, rendering video programs and leaving it on all night until I wake up to shut it off, when it is done. So I have used it more than normal use. Lately my Vista system is giving me a Warning Message that the drive is starting to fail and to back it up. So I am not too happy it is failing..and have to purchase another one. Only good news, I have received a Vista Warning ( my other brand external HD did not have that feature, when it failed without notice ) this HD with Hitachi parts was very economical for its size. I don't know if this is the exception to this brand and model, I will try another one again and let you know.
